If so, how many hairs do you have?

My mate told me that there is a way of counting how many hairs you have without using your fingers, is this true? Who else has heard this?

When you put your hand over someone's head, and hairs stick up, does counting them reveal how many girlfriends they have? My mate has told me this is true, who else has heard this?
