The way the media treats suicide...

TheoGB [Edit] [Delete] 09:01, 12 February '10

While I was grabbing a coffee from the snack room at work I caught some of BBC Breakfast talking about Alexander McQueen. What struck me was them talking about how he'd lost Isabella Blow and then lost his mother but almost as if this made sense of suicide. I've seen this sort of thing brought up before.

The fact is that grief isn't the same as depression. I feel like there's an attempt not to label suicide as the result of illness, as if it's something that could just happen to anyone who loses people close to them, or whose life goes to shit in some way.

It still angers me when people accuse others who've committed suicide of selfishness or of being generally a wanker for doing it, as if it's a conscious choice someone makes with a clear head.

Hmm. Apparently this thread doesn't have a point. Can xylOHpwn come in with a joke, please?
