I'm giving up the booze for a while, what do you think is a sensible amount of time to do this for?

GalacticStar3ruption [Edit] [Delete] 23:15, 12 February '10

I was considering doing it until my birthday on the 26th March, not drinking on my birthday would be sacrilege.

My hangovers are getting worse, they're horrible. I shake, get really paranoid and generally feel bloody awful, all I can do is go back to bed. It's more like a comedown from some nasty pills than a hangover from alcohol.

Another reason to take a break is the amount of money I spend on the stuff, it's the single biggest expense after my rent.

What do YOU think is realistic for someone who tends to drink stupid quantities of alcohol quite regualarly? And what have your experiences been of doing something similar?
