I like this idea and think that it would probably improve the quality of life in possibly unquantifiable ways - how people feel about themselves, what people's goals are, how people consume stuff and feel about things they already have. No matter how pretty/amusing/clever advertising is, no-one apart from the people that get paid to make it, would miss it if it wasn't there.
