I'm working on this in my dayjob, and thought there are quite a few student musician types on the boards who might be interested. Oui Love are organising an extensive UK tour this May, and the opening slot on each of the two legs is to be given to bands who win an online competition...

You upload a video, there's a public vote, then industry types pick the winning bands who then go on a national tour, on a tour bus, with some of the best & brightest emerging French bands.

It takes a huge amount of concentration, contacts, logistical effort, cajoling venues and promoters etc (and quite a lot of travel cash) to organise a tour on this scale, as anyone who's tried will appreciate... so it's actually a very worthwhile prize I reckon.
