LA CONFIDENTIAL

orsonwellesrabbit [Edit] [Delete] 17:37, 3 March '10

So I've been viewing some gems from my DVD collection that I haven't seen in a while, and I found this on the shelf. Forgot I had it. Holy shit. Fantastic stuff, even better than I recalled.

I have a soft spot, if you will, for the hard boiled crime (HBC) genre, especially the sexy noir stuff, so I understandably love this. Talk about a film where script, cast, direction and story come together almost perfectly. Only other HBC films I can think of, offhand, which so perfectly mix twisting plots with uber-sweet character idiosyncrasies are Miller's Crossing, A Prophet and The Departed (there are, of course, many more).

9.65/10

"Rolo Toomassi..."

Anyone have any sweet films in a similar vein to throw my way?
