A couple of guys at work who are rank amateurs have been talking about taking up golf and going to a driving range weekly with a view to starting playing fairly often.

I want to join them, but at the moment would probably struggle to hit the ball at all, let alone in a straight line.

If i'm looking at lessons, how many would I need to be able to start playing and be able to hit the ball properly? Is this a stupid idea?
