Some films I have recently seen (w/opinion) and some films I have yet to see but would like to (w/speculation):

Seen:

Public Enemies - Much better than everyone I spoke to made it out to be. Depp is great, as usual. Bale brings some nice ideas to the character of Purvis, but Dillinger is the rock star, let's face it. I think this post-Departed wave of cop vs criminal flicks is just about played out, however. 8/10

A Serious Man - Three viewings now, and it gets better with each one. Nothing more to say. 10/10

A Prophet - Very cool, very ambitious. You wait ages for a great gangster movie and two come along at once. What I liked about this and Public Enemies is how both fuse old, tried and true stories with a hard-to-define sense of progression...something very interesting going on there. 10/10

Yet to see:

Youth in Revolt - I consider the concept/sub-culture of "twee" to be one of the least appalling sins of society, but a sin is still a sin, and although I quite like the Fight Club-meets-teen romance idea, I've heard it described as "twee" so often that I figure I'll see fifteen minutes of the film before walking out. Anticipation: 6/10

Alice In Wonderland - Anything with Johnny Depp is cool, usually, and having just been on a massive cannabis bender, I want to see some pleasantly trippy films. However, mixed critical reaction and sketchy reports from friends leaves me unsure. Anticipation: 5/10

The Informant - Matt Damon is a quality actor, I like Soberbergh, and I've only heard good things about this. Must see. Anticipation: 8/10

I hate this period in the movie industry between Christmas and Easter. Such a wasteland.
