Is Death trying too hard?

Lucien [Edit] [Delete] 12:48, 9 April '10

Has anyone noticed how hip his choices have been lately?

Like a 15 year old that’s just gotten into music and is now in the midst of trying to force everyone to acknowledge how awesome his taste is. All his choices recently have been a little on the cute side, a bit indie, a bit hip....

Obviously Malcolm McLaren, but then in the past year Jay Reatard, Mark Linkous, Alex Chilton, Ron Asheton, Lux Interior, that drummer from !!! that fell down an elevator shaft - the list reads like a playlist any record store clerk could pretend to enjoy. There’s even Doug Fieger from The Knack making up the standard ‘uncool but fun one’ any self-respecting hipster includes in a compilation to show they don’t take themselves too seriously – My Sharona is the absolute gold standard cut for that....even the guys from Nirvana banged on about it ‘ironically’ from time to time. And Death needs a big cut to show he’s not really that serious.

Prediction for next passing: Moe Tucker
