ok so it's pretty flawed...

the leads look like a topshop advert...characters are pretty paper thin...it sometimes feels like they thought of the music first and the script second (although not necessarily a bad thing)...and if they really do live in a shit-hole that needs to be escaped from...why do they have...'the best nightclub in the world'...where you can kick your heels like it's 70's New York and not drab Reading. odd

but, but, but.

i'm a sucker for small town escape/love stories...a nod to the greatest film of all time (billy liar)...a good few chuckles and an ability to go down familiar roads without conforming to complete cliche...(so thankfully there was no boring explicit comeuppance the nasty boyfriend etc)....all summed up with a great final line...

'i dunno why we ran so hard, there's another on in an hour'

good stuff.

and better than kick ass.
