In Leeds there is a huge gorgeous Edwardian market called Kirkgate Market. Very cheap and brilliant. But they reckon it might have to close in five years due to too high rent etc.

Anyway I'm covering it for a radio documentary. Today they had this huge meeting in this big church in the city centre. About 150 people, council officials, market traders, Civic Trust members, etc. etc. It got pretty heated, and was very interesting.

About halfway through when someone's giving a speech, this tiny Chinese guy bursts in and starts screaming at the top of his voice. He was about 5ft4, huge long beard and long hair, looked about 60.

"WHITE MEN COWARDS. THEY GO TO OTHER COUNTRY BUT THEY DO NOT KEEP THEIR WORD. PALE SKIN. PALE HEART. NO BRAVERY NO HONOUR. YOU WILL NEVER STOP ME. I AM HERE FOREVER! LOOK MY SKIN. NOT WHITE. KICKING ME OUT WILL NOT CHANGE THE FUTURE." etc. etc.

They dragged him out and he ran back in right up through the middle of the pews and back round the other side, still screaming.

It was delightful. One of the best things to happen to me all week. And yes, it has been pretty slow week. Still, hiya!
