selling a coat

colon_closed_bracket [Edit] [Delete] 14:20, 13 May '10

basically the situation is this: i went to visit my granddad earlier this week whilst i was in bournemouth. my nana died about 18 months ago and although my granddad is doing okay, he hasn't cleared out a lot of her stuff. anyway, he presented me with a pile of my nana's old clothes, saying that he doesn't mind what i do with them, as long as I don't donate them to a charity shop in the bournemouth area (as he doesn't like the idea of seeing someone around town who's wearing "her" dress/coat/etc.)

most of the clothes look pretty well-worn - however there is a really nice-looking Aquascutum coat which is hardly-worn and in good condition. I'm really no expert on fashion but it looks pretty expensive. and what I'd like to do is sell the coat and donate the money to The Alzheimers Society (where donations were made before the funeral in lieu of flowers).

It might well be worth little or nothing - I'm just worried that if I donate it to some average charity shop then it'll get flogged for a fiver when it could raise more money.

So (sorry for taking so long to get the point) - any advice as to what to do? Am I likely to get much from a dress agency for it?
