What are you reading?

RockNRollMassacre [Edit] [Delete] 15:46, 29 May '10

I have just finished Great Expectations. I always thought Dickens was a lot of fun but I've developed a real respect for him as a novelist after this. I think it might be one of the msot intricately, perfectly plotted novels in the English language.

I've also been reading a fair few of Georges Simenon's Commissaire Maigret novels which are AMAZING gritty crime novels, make me wish I lived in Paris when it was all grimy and grey and cold and rainy in the 30s, and obviously had a huge influence on Nouvelle Vague films.

And now I'm reading The Midwich Cuckoos by John Wyndham. I'm about of a third of a way through and even though it's not dated brilliantly well, it's still deeply unsettling and very Doctor Who....
