The Down The Dumper column in Metro on Wednesdays

simon_t [Edit] [Delete] 23:53, 1 July '10

The most clueless feature published anywhere, yes? And yet I read it eagerly every week just so I can go "muh?" at its level of priorities. One week the subject - for the uninitiated, cattiness at the supposed fame level-related misfortunes of celebrities - was that notorious tabloid party animal Janet Ellis. I've just found one for Sandra Bullock in which the climactic proof that her fame is over was The Proposal going to number one in the US box office. Recently it did Chris Klein, who I was unaware was supposed to be a famous name. This week it was Cat Deeley, for which the last entry started "Apart from hosting So You Think You Can Dance..." Yeah, other than fronting a hugely popular ratings success who does she think she is?

And the byline is Scott Tenorman. So a professional journalist has chosen to brand themselves as a put-upon South Park character, and hardly an obscure reference given the name is in the title of one of its most famous episodes ever. Worth £20K+ a year.
