Buying a house

johnjohnson [Edit] [Delete] 15:17, 5 August '10

I assume most people here are early to mid twenties, with a smattering of people either side. A question for you: Are we ever going to be able to buy our own houses?

I'm thinking about going into teaching - a pretty respected job. Now, it's not the best paid (starting salary of £19,000 - pay rises up to a guaranteed £24,000 by year 5). But my parents are both teachers and fairly easily managed to buy a house back in the day.

This isn't going to happen for us, is it? Are we condemned to a life of renting? Is that even so bad?

Cheer me up please. But don't tell me you're on £50,000 a year at 22 years old. Thanks.
