Right so our landlord who took over from his mum after she died a few weeks before the end of our tenancy has been on holiday for a number of weeks and thats why we still havn't got our deposit back

however, i just got a phonecall from the solicitors who are looking after his mums estate and they told me he's taken over half the deposit. I've asked for invoices for what it was for.
How much room do I have to argue that he shouldn't have taken that much?
