We did it! Here's the 1 millionth landlord complaint thread!
So my landlord, right...
I complained to them over two months ago about damp in my flat. Their useless handy man came over and said 'well there's nothing i can do, but I can paint over it if you like?' so I complained and said our stuff is being damaged, it's unhealthy, etc. We at least needed a dehumidifier. A few weeks later they eventually brought one over, and after having it on for an hour it leaked everywhere and got loads of my stuff soaked. Great. I complained and weeks later got another one which works for about 20 minutes before saying it's full and stops working when it's still empty. Great. Both of these are obviously very old and knackered so I complained again to which they responded 'no, it works fine, i don't understand the problem' despite me explaining it several times and with photos. Great.
That's now about a month ago. In the meantime the problems are getting worse, wallpaper is peeling off in one place, and they're basically ignoring me as much as possible. If I call I just get fobbed off. I've written a complaint to them which has been ignored. I could buy my own dehumidifier but I think it's kind of past that point now because it hasn't been dealt with.
So now I've written to rental advice people and the council housing team, but being that I live in Hackney I reckon they've probably got better things to do.
What can I do? Any advice?
