The War on Discrimination

confrontedbybears [Edit] [Delete] 16:23, 8 December '14

The war on the rights of people to discriminate, based on their (Christian) religious beliefs, is clearly misguided and is actually discriminatory in itself. It is time to legislate for the right to discriminate "so that we can create a society that is inclusive, making reasonable accommodation for people of faith".

Equality legislation aimed at protecting the rights of minorities "is having an adverse effect on those with religious belief when it comes to the provision of goods and services". In order to maintain a balance in the rights of everyone concerned on both sides it it time for "a conscience clause in our legislation that will allow sufficient space for people properly and respectfully to exercise their faith in a way that accommodates wider society as well."

Such a clause should not, of course, be used as a justification for people who provide goods and services to discriminate against (Christian) religious people who seek to procure such goods and services in a manner which incorporates a religious message.
