White Fragility (or, Why Does Talking About Racism Make Some White People Super Mad?)

fidel_catstro [Edit] [Delete] 09:59, 12 January '15

Read this pretty excellent paper over the weekend - it's pretty US-centric, but I felt it had some resonance over here in the fallout of events from France and the discussion we've in various social medias, newspaper columns etc. etc.

Definitely some guilty winces of recognition in the way I've reacted to things myself here. Also, kind of interesting to recognise a lot of ideas I've seen thrown around online with a lot more vinegar presented in a super calm, collected manner.

Anyhow, yes it's a 17 page PDF, but the article itself is only about 12 pages. And it's Monday, fucksake. What else are you going to do? Work?

Love to hear your thoughts on this
