Homebrewing 2015

hip_young_gunslinger [Edit] [Delete] 14:29, 19 January '15

I went on a homebrewing course at the weekend at the Homebrew Depot in Homerton (great bunch o' lads). My first time ever trying it, we did an all-grain brew, mashed it, boiled it etc. (Drank a lot of beer too, but that's by the by).

Anyway, I came home with a big plastic bottle full of my 'beer' with an airlock thing on top, and a packet of yeast, and the instruction to add some yeast to the 'beer' and stick in the dark for a bit (well, two weeks, since I'm going on holiday). When I get back, I understand that it will now be drinkable beer, but we were encouraged to do a second fermentation, then bottle it. The issue is, that sounds like a lot of work, and will needs some specific equipment (stuff to siphon it, bottles, safe disinfectants for the bottles and everything else). If I do just pour it straight from the first fermentation, will be be worthwhile? Or should I faff around with it? I've probably cocked it up already to be honest.

Anyway, how's your homebrew, and what should I do next? Don't think I have the space for all-grain, but I might buy a kit and see how I go.
