got this friend who is pretty awesome in most respects (thoughtful, generous etc) but he can get pretty het up and act like a massive asshole. mostly over competitive stuff.

we play tennis together and he's always a bit of a cunt about the score. we've been playing regularly for a couple of years, but at the beginning of the year, he was on an amazing run of victories. so much so, that we went from 9 matches to 8 in my favour, to 14/9 in his. I took these beatings like a true man, sucked it up etc (other than smashing my racquet on the floor from time to time)

anyway, recently I've got my mojo back and won the last 5 matches on the spin. he acted like a bit of a baby during the upturn in my fortunes (saying he had to leave early if he was getting whooped etc)

anyway, we had a couple of weeks off and got back into it on Tuesday. I reminded him of the fact that I was now level in matches, but he was having none of it. so much so, that he made a big deal of it during and after the match. I texted him after and said I'd concede on this occasion to keep the peace. I didn't even get a cheers, but ho hum. pretty pathetic behaviour, huh.

another example - we were playing an early morning game (7am start) and I said why don't I walk to his house and get a lift the rest of the way. agreed. I sent him a text at about 6.45am asking him for his address ('what's your address man'?) and got back something snotty about not wishing him a good morning! what the hell, man!

when I got to his gaff he was sat in the car. I opened the door and said 'good morning darling' and he completely lost the plot. so much so, that tennis was cancelled. think he called me a skinny cunt and sped off.

I've spoken to him about his tetchiness and sense of humour bypass when it comes to our relationship, but he still displays these characteristics and I always feel I'm walking on eggshells with him. i dare not tease him a bit, just in case he loses the plot.

not sure what to do about this really - as I say, he's a solid guy generally, but I get really fucked off with his attitude.
