RE lessons in school

hip_young_gunslinger [Edit] [Delete] 15:00, 15 April '16

I was a bit of a nerd (shocking I know!) and quite enjoyed RE, especially when it got to A Level and we just sat around debating ethics ("Eating meat is bad. If some aliens came down and were smarter than us and thought we were food, would you think that was okay?" "Yeah, fine with me mate.")

Favourite RE memory was when we had to write about the resurrection, and provide our own interpretation of what had happened. One lad wrote that Jesus had turned into a sausage and been eaten by a seagull, and got detention, despite him arguing that it was just as logical as assuming he'd risen from the death.

Another time we had to write a letter to a friend explaining about a bar mitzvah ceremony we were pretending to have had. My mate got docked marks for addressing his letter to someone called Romeo (he was really into So Solid Crew) because the teacher said the name wasn't Jewish enough! (Which is bizarre on many levels).
