Conversational bolt from the blue

ThierryEnnui [Edit] [Delete] 15:45, 19 April '16

I was at a gig the other night with a good friend of mine and she brought a friend with her who I've met before and really liked so it was generally a nice evening. But at some point the topic of feminism/gender equality came up and friend of friend said to me that she'd read on someone's Facebook page that in the world there are only "feminists, rapists or rape apologists". I reacted with a "holy shit, that's severe!" and she said, "but it's pretty much true isn't it?" and I said "..."

Then I told her that in most discussions, on the internet or in real life, my main objective is not to be shouted at and I offered to get a round in. Can somebody please tell me how to feel about this statement? I'm almost certain I don't like it at all but then I'm probably wrong.
