wrote my car off years ago and the insurance sorted a courtesy car, part of the deal was they'd come and pick me up on the first day of use and drive me down to their local europ car hire office to sign the paperwork, pick up the keys etc

the girl who picked me up was outrageously attractive and i spent the first half of the journey making shit small talk, it took about half an hour to get to their office so i'd relaxed and felt we'd built up a bit of a rapport by the time we got there and she was showing me round the courtesy car

feeling buoyed by the fact she'd laughed at a few of my jokes i was planning to ask if she'd like to go for a drink sometime just as she asked me to turn on the engine.

i hadn't realised it was parked in 1st gear so the car shot forward about 5 feet and narrowly missed smashing into the rear of another car parked in front, genuinely felt like my face was going to self-immolate from the beamer i was taking and i got the fuck out of there as quickly as i could, thankfully she wasn't working when i had to return the car later that week
