Music Social More…

Objective/Subjective

DanielKelly [Edit] [Delete] 11:31, 4 July '06

Was replying to the comments on the review for Lostprophets' new record and it got me thinking...

I've always held the belief that there is no such thing as intrinsicly bad music (outside of technical ability of course) and that the enjoyment of music is entirely subjective. Because of this I've never understood the mentality of people who get riled up by positive reviews of bands they hate or negative reviews of bands they love, unless of course the review itself is flawed or inaccurate. To me, music is always a matter of opinion and no-one elses opinion, no matter how different to mine, offends me.

Just wondered how other people saw music. Is the enjoyment of music subjective or is there some objective standard to aspire to?
