MY BAND 4 or 5 MAGICIANS !!!!!!!

dan_thw [Edit] [Delete] 22:10, 26 January '09

Haha a specific JAG board. I've been away too long! Best board since The Maccabees board? I think so.

Yeah so my band 4 or 5 Magicians, check us out man, we're so rad!

Who saw us in the NME a couple of weeks ago in their Indie / Folk Tips for 2009 thing? It was quite a surprise. They wrote this rather funny paragraph :

"Brighton five-piece 4 or 5 Magicians are more exciting than the prospect of Paul Daniels actually fulfilling his long-running promise to leave the country under a Labour regime. With lyrics so slick they make Alex Turner sound like a spluttering old colonel struggling with a cream bun and equal parts lo-fi bedroom fuzz and glorious art-pop melody (think Supergrass meets Shellac) we're struggling to think of one solitary loser who won't like this band. They're going to be the new Manic Street Preachers, but with less tights and guy-liner".

I think they meant cool mid 90s Manic Street Preachers rather than Ocean Spray. But then maybe they didn't. I like to describe us as "Television meets Terrorvision". But then, I actually like Terrorvision so maybe what I think doesn't matter.

We have multiple dates coming up in London :

Jan 29 2009
LONDON Buffalo Bar w/ George Pringle, Applicants

Feb 6 2009
LONDON Best Laid Plans @ The Windmill, Brixton

Feb 9 2009
LONDON The Lexington w/ The Thermals

Feb 11 2009
LONDON The Old Blue Last, Shoreditch w/ Copy Haho, The X-Certs

Feb 23 2009
LONDON Mirror Kisses @ Madame JoJos

Mar 19 2009
LONDON Dead By 30 @ The Macbeth, Hoxton

Come down and see if you like us.

Album out through some cool label or other in April I think. It's finished and although I'm sick of it due to all the painstaking mixing listens, I think it sounds really awesome and I think you will also like it, so tick off the days on your calendar until the 3rd week of April (or around then) when you can finally get your dirty little hands on a real copy. Or download it.

We are available for rock and roll shows in London and nearby (or further afield if we can all make it and you pay us megabucks) so why not send us an email at fourorfivemagicians[at]hotmail[dot]co[dot]uk and get us to come play your show!

Also I think we might be looking for a keyboard player / rudimentary percussionist to join up, as our current fifth member has a dodgy arm and might be forced to leave the band. We can play as four which is what we are doing right now, but it sounds better with five. So join up if you want. You don't even need to own your own keyboard, just have the ability to play really easy parts, and be a cool dude / dudette.

I wish I had more bands so I could do more morally acceptable JAGs!

DiScuss your 4 or 5 Magicians thoughts, experiences, misconceptions etc. below...
