Some Questions: The Hedrons
Some Questions: The Hedrons
-Raz- by Raziq Rauf September 22nd, 2006

They’re Scottish, there are four of them and they’re all GIRLS. Ruddy brilliant. The Hedrons have answered Some Questions this time, all four of them. We got Chi (bass), Rosie (lead guitar), Soup (drums) and Tippi (vocals) answering all these marvellous posers.

On a scale of 1-10, how emo or metal or indie or whatever do you think you are?
Rosie: Well, we're definitely not EMO! Or metal. We're much more indie/rock so I'd say an 8 for indie and 1 for metal and emo.

If you could be drowned in anything, what would it be?
Chi: I've always said drowning in quicksand would be the worst way to go. Ideally, though, I'd like to be drowned in £50 notes.

What was your worst haircut?
Tippi: A spiral perm – oh shudder!

On a scale of 1-10, how good do you look naked?
Tippi: Ermmm... maybe a six?

You probably
won't want another
Maccy D's after

If you could make one book as important and integral to Western society as the Bible, what would it be?
Chi: Fast Food Nation: What The All-American Meal Is Doing To The World by Eric Schlosser. I'm sick of seeing folk shovelling McDonald’s and the like into their mouths for breakfast, lunch and dinner! It's about as nutritious as cardboard for crying out loud!

Have you had any near-death experiences?
Rosie: The nearest was when I was ten and nearly drowned on holiday in France. It's on video and everyone just laughs at it whenever they see it! I was traumatised.

What festival do you recommend that everyone should go to?
Rosie: I'd say that everyone should go to T in the Park. We played there for the first time this year and it was an amazing atmosphere. Everyone is just there to have a good time and make the most of it.

What has been your most notable experience with fans and admirers?
Soup: Having a large group of fans wait outside the Bar Academy in Birmingham all day with their autograph books. We even had to sign one of their dogs' collars. I noticed Flea from the Chili Peppers had already been there.

Who or what do you miss the most?
Tippi: Being 10 years old and not having a care in the world.

What's your favourite childhood memory?
Tippi: Being taught how to read music by my grandfather.

You spend so much time together, how do you stay friends?
Soup: We are not friends. Where did you read this?

Hoose Juice =
BUCKFAST!

What band do you wish your band were as good as?
Soup: We wish we were as good as Katrina and the Waves. We just can't seem to get picked for Eurovision. Joking! We all aspire to [be as successful as] the Foo Fighters. We hope we have a career as long and as successful as theirs.

What is your favourite country?
Rosie: Anywhere that’s warm and the sun shines on a regular basis. But I love Scotland, despite the weather – I'd never want to move away from here.

What's your favourite booze?
Soup: WRECK THE HOOSE JUICE! It does exactly what it says on the tin. You will have to listen to The Hedrons' Be My Friend podcast Part 2 to find out what this is!

What are your favourite websites?
Chi: MySpace, bebo, second life, eBay. How much of a geek are you making me sound?

Name three things you could not live without?
Tippi: My guitar, my Powerbook and my 4-track recorder.

The Hedrons suggest that you DiScover Wolfmother, The Clash and Led Zeppelin. Their new single, ‘I Need You’, is released on October 9, and they are touring extensively throughout the month. Check out TheHedrons.com for more details.
