Grüß Gott!
Yes yes, it’s Monday, and yes, yes, here are some We7 players reflective of DiS’s top tip albums of the week. Go forth, and multiply.
Field Music - Field Music (Measure)
As our own Amanda Farah pointed out, Field Music’s ‘split’ was three years long and involved no fall out between the Brewis Brothers – Jay-Z is possibly the only person who might have been significantly worried, were he into North Eastern art pop. Anyway, they’re back, with a double album, and it’s good, yeah?

Shearwater - The Golden Archipelago
Speaking personally, this felt like the moment when Shearwater finally lived up to the hype with this fiercely intelligent mediation on our failing ecosystem. Erm, others will probably think Rook or Palo Santo was their defining statement. Whatever, this is an undeniably impressive record, an eloquent, profoundly human record that tackles our teetering environment with poetry but not pretention.

Lightspeed Champion - Life Is Sweet! Nice To Meet You
On which the former Icicle goes a bit barmy and has a crack at most of the smoother musical styles from the Seventies and Eighties, all wrapped up under the worst album name ever. WHEN ARE YOU GETTING THE OLD BAND BACK TOGETHER, DEV? You could probably sell out, um, the Scala or something. (Review coming SOON).
Xiu Xiu - Dear God, I Hate Myself
Do you really hate yourself Jamie Stewart? Really? Or are you actually quite pleased with yourself? Anyhoo, if you’re looking for an entry point to Xiu Xiu’s grumpy world of indie noise, this is possibly their most accessible outing to date. And if you’re a long time Xiu Xiu fan, you’re unlikely to have beef with this, or Stewart’s Former Ghosts project, whose Fleurs album we review today.

Peter Gabriel - Scratch My Back
This might not be Gabriel’s finest hour, but it is a bloody interesting one, plus as cover records by big-in-the-Eighties artists go, it is, mercifully, no Duran Duran’s Thank You. (Review coming SOON).
