THE NEEDLES
These critters from Aberdeen have been playing garage rock before the NME picked up a copy of the 'Nuggets' box set and decided to make it The New Scene. After a short hiatus, The Needles returned last year with the 'Let U Down/I Don't Wanna Go To Skool' 7", and release 'The King And Queen Of Style' EP at the end of July on the ever-expanding Lithium Records. The band now have an extra guitarist, to beef up the sound, in the form of Scott from Aerial (Fantastic Plastic). They were back on punky form with a recent Gold Blade support slot. And this is their first London gig in absobloodylutely ages.
ONSTAGE: 10.30pm
JOSEPHINE
Josephine have The Needles as their partners in crime at a monthly residency in Glasgow's Nice'n'Sleazy club. After two very well-received singles, they release their amazing debut album, 'This Is Not An Advertisement', in August. The sound ranges from shouty pop to, er, indiepop. Going from strength-to-strength and fast becoming one of the most-loved bands in Scotland. Again, they haven't played London for a while, so DON'T MISS THEM.
ONSTAGE: 9.45pm
THE LYMES
A band we don't know an awful lot about yet other than they're from Norwich and have an ear for a tune. DiS said of their demo: "The vocal is distinctly of the Kurt Cobain school of slightly angsty American that's for certain. The music is for the most part charged up classic indierock." Could be ones to keep an eye on, so come down early and see for yourself.
ONSTAGE: 9.00pm
See you there?
