D-Frag MCR #5: Manchester Gig Listings [emo punk metal dance rock week]
D-Frag MCR #5: Manchester Gig Listings [emo punk metal dance rock week]
-Raz- by Raziq Rauf November 20th, 2002
De-Frag MCR #5 - Manchester’s DiS guide from =RaZ=

I told you it’d get regular and here it is again already. It’s been a quietish time in Manchester after October’s rock extravagances but treat some of this week’s with a callous disregard and you will be sure to hold your head in your hands and weep. A couple of Rock Monsters take the stage this week, as well as some evil impostors but, fear not as I will duly point them out.

If you go see yer bands in the fair city of Manchester and haven't subscribed yet, click this link!! You’ll probably not regret it.

Gigs for the 'week' … Thursday November 21st … Wednesday November 27th

T h u r s d a y - N o v 2 1
@ MEN Arena ... DAVID GRAY ... he’s a warbling crooner and he wiggles his head and he clearly he didn’t sell millions of records by accident

F r i d a y - N o v 2 2
@ Manchester Uni ... A & GOLDFINGER … it’s an inner city ramraid tour or something that has seen the Suffolkshire punky metal rockers expand their fanbase and take some mental SoCal punkers on the road with em
@ Roadhouse ... 20 MILES ... got bits and pieces of JSBX in it and that can never be a bad thing

S a t u r d a y - N o v 2 3
@ MEN Arena ... MOBY ... baldy returns with loads of cars on stage as inspiration. No? probably not but expect a bustling dancy bust up on the dancefloor
@ Apollo ... RYAN ADAMS ... he’s not Bryan but at first I thought he was and then I discovered they sounded nothing alike cos our Ryan – not Bryan – rocks like a badger with a skipping rope. And a guitar
@ Manchester Uni ... THE AUSTRALIAN PINK FLOYD ... well they sound like Pink Floyd except theyre not and they’re from Oz and they’re a tribute band. Great name!

S u n d a y - N o v 2 4
You said you needed an early night, didn’t you?

M o n d a y - N o v 2 5
@ Manchester Uni ... ROADRUNNER ROADRAGE TOUR … wooargh! Metal! These are some of the real rock monsters I was telling you about!! Killswitch Engage & Five Pointe 0 & 36 Crazyfists are the triumvirate
@ Roadhouse … 80s MATCHBOX B-LINE DISASTER … it’s Mötorhead meets Iggy meets Brighton meets Manchester meets me meets you meets my gran meets a lot of youngsters.

T u e s d a y - N o v 2 6
@ Manchester Uni ... SNAPCASE ... hardcore goodness in the palm of your hand

W e d n e s d a y - N o v 2 7
***GIG OF THE WEEK*** @ Roadhouse
… Funeral for a Friend … technically not the top of the bill tonight, but clearly will be soon, cos I said so here
FuneralForAFriend.com
… Juliana Theory … major label emerging emo / punk / post-hardcore / rock band that are most certainly worth checking out
TheJulianaTheory.com
… Dawn Parade … rock n roll from Oxford – pretty much says it all
TheDawnParade.com

@ Manchester Uni … SPARKLEHORSE … Mark Linkous returns with his cronies to gallop and glitter their way across the stage in what should be a wonderful night for those who prefer quieter music to my above recommendation

Well it seems like you have a fair choice this week and so I shall leave you to mull over your choices and find out if you have to go see that life affirming show all on your own or whether you can take a gigging buddy. Just pick up one of the tramps from Oxford Road.

See you soon
Raz
