D-Frag MCR #7 : take a day off cos you have no choice
D-Frag MCR #7 : take a day off cos you have no choice
-Raz- by Raziq Rauf January 14th, 2003
De-Frag MCR #7 - Manchester’s DiS guide from =RaZ=

It’s the Ewwwww Year. Hope you had a good festive period and all that pelava. I did. It should be goddamn freezing out at the moment because then it might snow. I already had a little bit of snow a few days ago and snowballs really are just as good as they used to be. Beware. January is traditionally the month in which the world according to music begins to warm up again, ready for the full-on face-wide onslaught of musical extravaganzae that is known as, erm, February. So you can have a bumper edition now and more detailed, and hopefully fuller, editions will be coming sooner than you want.

If you want to receive this mailout in future, click this link!!

Gigs for the 'week' … Wednesday January 15th … Friday January 31st

W e d n e s d a y – J a n 1 5
@ MCR Uni … GET UP KIDS … recently matured American punk rockers come around but don’t worry: the mosh pit will remain

T h u r s d a y - J a n 1 6
@ Courtneys, Deansgate … ECLECTRICITY … it’s the weekly uber-diverse still-underground club and somehow it’s free

F r i d a y - J a n 1 7
@ MCR Uni … FLAMING LIPS … psychedelic concept rockers with beards and Yoshimi and robots

S a t u r d a y - J a n 1 8
REST DAY!!
S u n d a y – J a n 1 9
Call it a long weekend, perhaps.
M o n d a y - J a n 2 0
Really long.
T u e s d a y - J a n 2 1
Oh god.

W e d n e s d a y – J a n 2 2
@ MCR Uni … ONE MINUTE SILENCE … these mentalist cosmopolitan metallers have returned to violate yet more audiences with their brutal live show
@ Roadhouse … EASYWORLD … they play pop-rock with eyeliner and have a couple of decent choons which are nice n bouncy n inoffensive

T h u r s d a y - J a n 2 3
@ MCR Uni … TAPROOT … intelligent nu-metallers still complain a lot
@ Courtneys, Deansgate … ECLECTRICITY … 3 more new bands again this week and a drinks license til 1am = heaven

F r i d a y - J a n 2 4
*** GIG OF THE WEEK@ Manchester Uni ***
InMe … very young, very popular, chart storming, semi-grungers from Essexshire trundle across the entire country in exquisite fashion while simultaneously offloading several thousand records
InMeOnline.com
Colour of Fire … possibly the next big thing (after =Reuben=, of course!) in the new wave of young British rock things with a demo
ColourOfFire.co.uk

also
@ Apollo … SUPERGRASS … they’re getting old now y’know but they’re still pretty damn good

S a t u r d a y - J a n 2 5
Yet another empty day.
S u n d a y – J a n 2 6
And they never come alone.

M o n d a y - J a n 2 7
@ MCR Uni … THE USED … “The sound of Ozzy drinking again and being ass raped by a gang of mormon truckers” (Peter White, 2002), apparently.

T u e s d a y - J a n 2 8
@ Apollo … CHRIS REA … he’s old and it’s quite funny to call him Dire

W e d n e s d a y – J a n 2 9
Empty.

T h u r s d a y - J a n 3 0
@ MEN Arena … COUNTING CROWS … if some people had their way whiney, country-tinged alt. rock would never have existed
@ MCR Uni … DELGADOS … it’s twee Scottish depression, basically
@ Courtneys, Deansgate … ECLECTRICITY … yet more frolicking behind Kendal’s with DJs and live bands and alcohol

F r i d a y - J a n 3 1
@ MCR Uni … MARTIN GRECH … that young chap with the sublime voice who drives a nice car

That’s all there is for January and in February there’s gonna be sooooo much more. I can’t wait. Wear gloves. Get drunk. Fall in love. Forward this to people you think might want to read it.

See you soon
Raz
