Drowned in Sound celebrated four years, and got on the campaign trail for four more years on Friday (8th October).
The live set from Do Me Bad Things was spectacular, in a bombastic, poptastic, Tina Turner humping Dr.Frank-N-Furter atop a big rock lobster, kinda way.
The opening sets from newbies Dead! Dead! Dead! may've been lacking their hammond organ but was a fantastic debut London show. Geordies Peace Burial at Sea blew sonic static one minute and psychedelic softness the next. Our guest headliner Tim Arnold finished off the night ina soft, swooping Jeff Buckley fashion, blistered with moments of early Verve.
Our special guest DJ came fresh from touring America with The Cure... Jon from the Cooper Temple Clause who ravaged the room with some Bloc Party, Prodigy and, er, alsorts (we were a bit drunk by then!). Upstairs, the barfloor was kept dancing 'til 2am with sets from the Pryhha Girls, Matty from London's very fine White Heat Clubnight, the infamous kiwi Flash Taylor and DiS' very own Adie Nunn and Gareth Dobson.
Our thanks go out to all the bands, all our djs, Allan & Sarah from Plum and all of you folks for coming out to show your support for new music.
The partying continues tomorrow (tues) night in a rockula fashion when DiS Records genre-benders thisGIRL headline the Garage, with support from The Blueprint, Engerica and Days of Worth. Tickets available here.
