Charidy single? We can do that too, says America
disnews by DiS News December 10th, 2004
Following on from the 20th Anniversary recording of ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas Time?’, it’s been revealed that the song’s American counterpart ‘We Are The World’, an arguably even schmaltzier song, is to get a double-decade makeover.

Plans are underway to revive the song that saw the likes of Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Huey Lewis and Ray Charles buddy up. This time, rap star and producer Jermaine Dupri is behind the reigns, and it looks like Usher, Kanya West and Janet Jackson will be involved.

"It's called 'We Are the Future,'" Dupri said of the project to MTV this week. "We're gonna try to recreate, follow in the footsteps of those who made a big record before, like Michael [Jackson], Quincy [Jones] and Lionel Richie."

The song was originally recorded on January 28th, 1985, following the American Music Awards. This time Dupri wants to load his bling team in on February 13th in Los Angeles, right after the 47th annual Grammy Awards.
