DiS 6th Birthday: Big Barfly Bash
crablin by Colin Roberts August 30th, 2006

So, we've already got a tour and co-promoted shows all over London, so how about another?

Aaaaah yes. DiS becomes six and the parties go crazy like a wild fish of laughter. What? Yeah. Anyway, the real party-pizzarty goes RIGHT down at the Camden Barfly on the 10th October. It's going to be a big one (trust) and to be honest, you should really take the Wednesday off work and all come round my house for debauched stupidity. Did I really jut say that? I'll be regretting that come October.

So, line-up eh? Details? Ticket link? Yeah, go on then.

VERY SPECIAL GUESTS - link
Well, we don't want to reveal too much just yet, so you only need to know that they are one of the truly dear DiS bands and one of a very select elite to have been awarded a 10/10 review on these very pages. We're excited, so should you be.

Dartz! - link
The North-east has been knocking out fantastic bands for a good while now and this trio are sitting comfortably at the top of the tree. Pitched in between Maximo Park and This Aint Vegas with a healthy dose of Dischord magic, Dartz! have just finished their debut LP for Xtra Mile and have been a live highlight of ours for ages. It's a pleasure to have them playing our birthday party.

The Chap - link
Lo Recordings' The Chap are a London-based four-piece with a lot to give. At this year's Venn Festival we said they were a "fiendishly fun tickle in the ribs," and I can't honestly think of anything better at a birthday party. Expect gloriously eccentric British pop doused in electronics, cellos and silliness. Splendid.

Blood Red Shoes - link
Seriously, if you read DiS and haven't heard about these two yet, then there's a problem with your face. Brighton's punky/grunged up melodic masters are only now somehow playing their first DiS bill and we couldn't be happier. Hooks galore coated in attitude and endless chemistry make for an ace package of three-minute song nuggets. Playful and intense, Blood Red Shoes quite frankly rock.
