twhitehouse by Tim Whitehouse September 4th, 2001
As if the greatest Reading performance ever (no really!) and a tour weren't enough, Mogwai will be releasing some new stuff and ripping off anoraks with unnecesary re-releases come October.

October 1st sees the release of EP + 6 which is basically all the old EPs on one CD. Which is great if you haven't got them and annoying if you are having enough trouble finding money to buy all those rare 7"s without having to spend more money on music you already own. The CD also has the Stanley Kubrick video, interviews and reviews hidden away.

The tracklisting is:
Superheroes of BMX
Now You're Taken
Stereo Dee
Xmas Steps
Rollerball
Small Children In The Background
Stanley Kubrick
Xmas Song
Burn Girl Prom Queen
Rage:Man

Also re-released on October 1st is the Kicking A Dead Pig remix album. Which comprises of various remixes from various highly credible musos and also Alec Empire remixing Like Herod. There seems even less point re-releasing this as it's available in indie shops and evil multinationals alike. Except now its got the Fear Satan remix EP stuck on the end.

Those remixes in full are:
Like Herod - Hood
Helicon 2 - Max Tundra
Summer - Klute
Gwai On 45 - Arab Strap
A Cheery Wave From Stranded Youngsters - 3rd Eye Foundation
Like Herod - Alec Empire
Mogwai Fear Satan - Surgeon
R U Still In 2 It? - DJ Q
Tracy - Kid Loco
Mogwai Fear Satan - Mogwai
Mogwai Fear Satan - U-ziq
Mogwai Fear Satan - My Bloody Valentine

Finally a bit of genuinely exciting news; a year later than expected they are due to release "Our Father Our King" the Jewish hymn originally recorded for release on an Arthur Baker album. It should be available from 22nd October on Rock Action Records.

The song in its live state normally clocks in at around 18 minutes and is going to be the only song on the CD/12". Which should make it the first mogwai release eligible for the singles charts since turning into the stadium rocking beasts that they now are. So it should be very interesting what happens if it reaches the Top 40.
