One More Grain bring Kenyan kazoo-rave on new EP
TheBoyDeadly by TheBoyDeadly March 5th, 2008

Urbane One More Grain return from their latest wander ‘round Britain’s fields and thoroughfares with a new four-track EP and a headful of foreign ideas.

The quintet have recorded their own versions of standards from across the globe – “kazoo-rave nuptial banger” ‘Giriama Wedding’ from Kenya sitting alongside the self-explanatory ‘South American Folk Song’ and the less well-travelled ‘Scarborough Fair’.

Recent album track ‘A Town Is What You Make It’ is lifted from the clouded confines of Isle of Grain to complete The Town Fair, which should find a release on 12” vinyl through White Heat/Izumi in early May. Alternatively, listen now at the band’s MySpace page 'til the band leave the stage at their upcoming DrownedinSound show. More on that later, and yes, the very second.

Furthermore, DrownedinSound has just learned that the band will be appearing at this year's Green Man festival in Brecon Beacons, Wales (further details). As well as that, Daniel Patrick Quinn’s mob have a pair of live shows lined-up – see, below:

March
12 London Corsica Studios (w/ Silver Apples)
14 London Water Rats (DiS show w/ John & Jehn, Enablers)

Silver Apples? DrownedinSound? That’s the fine company One More Grain will keep ‘til the summer brings festival appearances and a new record. Buy tickets for the DiS show here, if you like, before the band release Grain Fever and are lost to the throngs of the world's ampitheatres. That new album is currently being recorded at a variety of locations across London.

Any more? Frontman Quinn’s new solo record Acting The Rubber Pig is almost done while trumpeter and sound treater Dr Andrew Blick’s Gyratory System bring their instrumentalism to east London’s Catch Bar on the 15th of March. An album, The Sound-Board Breathes, will come a short while after.
