Seems everyone’s got a free set of hands to massage Scarlett Johansson’s flailing ego when it needs a rub.
Following the soft slapped applause of Scarlett’s apparent “sexual awakening” to sounds of Bowie a few weeks back, imagine our delight when we received Anywhere I Lay My Head – her collection of Tom Waits covers – yesterday. It goes some hog to be the most glorious vanity project going, and even with TV On The Radio boffin Dave Sitek and Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Nick Zinner pulling strings still manages to leave ‘I Don’t Want To Grow Up’ sounding like a lukewarm Euro-pop rendition of ‘Kumbaya’.
Here’s the video ‘tape’ to ‘Falling Down’, originally from Waits’ 1988 live record Big Time and the debut release from the ample-bosomed horse whispering thesp. Somewhere in the background you should apparently be able to make out Bowie pining away.
