ASH: Jealous Copy Cats
sean by Sean Adams July 25th, 2002
Ash are back again, with a new single, a singles collection and a chance for you to get up onstage and play with the band.

We can reveal that the next Ash single will be entitled 'ENVY' and will be released via Infectious on 26 August 2002. Apparently the video features cameo appearances by The Hives, White Stripes and "two fellas you've never seen before," whatever that means. The single, recorded in America earlier this year, is part of the hype for the band's forthcoming singles and rarities compilation, 'Intergalactic Sonic Sevens', released September 9th - tracklisting below.

ASH also would like to offer fans the chance to play onstage with the band and to record a cover of one of the Ash songs from their 'Intergalactic Sonic Sevens' singles collection (see list of tracks below), as a b-side.

To enter, you just need to record a cover from these nineteen tracks: Burn Baby Burn, Oh Yeah, Uncle Pat, Envy, Jack Names The Planets, Wildsurf, Girl From Mars, Sometimes, Walking Barefoot, Shining Light, Kung Fu, Petrol, A Life Less Ordinary, Candy, There's A Star, Goldfinger, Angel, Interceptor, Numbskull and Jesus Says.

Send your entry as a DAT/CDR/Minidisc (and i bet contact details will be handy too!) to the following address before 16 August 2002: Ash Covers Competition, PO Box 4226, London SW6 2XG. Winners will be broadcast on August 30th on X-fm (which for non-londoners you can get on Digital tv and @ xfm.co.uk). Good luck.

In other Ash news... the band are currently on the road in America - where they're also going to be guests of Moby on his forthcoming Area 2 dates. But Ash are back over here to play Reading and Leeds festival on 24th and 25th August.
