U2 remix 'Pop'...
mreed by Mark Reed July 29th, 2002
Irish superstars U2 are planning on following their imminent 'Greatest Hits' album by remixing their 1997 "Pop" album.

The band are currently hard at work in their Dublin studios, polishing off new material for the "Best Of 1990-2002" album due for release on November 18. The album is due to include two new songs.

In addition U2 have recorded enough material in the same sessions for their next album, the follow up to 2000's "All That You Can't Leave Behind". As their record company is pressing for the "Best Of" album before Christmas, it is expected that the next album of new material will be released in 2003 at the earliest.

U2's guitarist, The Edge, speaking outside their Dublin studio on Thursday stated that the band are also reworking and remixing their 1997 "POP" album.

The album was fraught with difficulties, and despite a four year gap between albums, it seems that the band didn't have enough time to finish the album to their liking. The band have publically stated their dissatisfaction with many songs on the album, including "Discotheque", and "Staring At The Sun", and are working on new versions and mixes of these songs (amongst others) from the "Pop" album in their Hanover Quay Studios for future release.

If that isn't enough U2 for you, there's also two DVD's planned imminently - one to accompany the "Best Of" album, and another to document their Slane Castle gigs last year.
