As if the Soundgarden / Rage Against the Machine supergroup wasn't enough, news has filtered into DiS that the first album from rock monsters Zwan is set to be released early in the new year.
The band, featuring Billy and Jimmy of the Smashing Pumpkins, Paz Lenchantin of A Perfect Circle, Matt Sweeney of defunct alt.rockers Chavez and David Pajo (whose CV includes Slint, Papa M, Will Oldham, Stereolab, Tortoise and Royal Trux), have apparently finished recording their debut for Warner Bros. imprint Reprise, with 'Honestly' slated as the potential first single. Internet rumours currently suggest that the album too will be entitled 'Honestly' with the following unconfirmed tracklisting:
'Honestly'
'Glorious'
'And So I Died Of A Broken Heart'
'Cast A Stone'
'Endless Summer'
'Yeah'
'Jesus I'
'For Your Love'
'Settle Down'
'Lyric'
'Rivers We Can't Cross'
'El Sol'
'Chrysanthemum'
'Desconocida'
American DiS fans will have already had the chance to see them play, but in case you missed them, the band are playing a selection of December dates:
-- Thursday 5th Las Vegas, The Joint
-- Saturday 7th LA, KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas
-- Wednesday 11th Boston, WBCN XMAS RAVE
-- Thursday 12th NYC, KROCK’s Claus Fest
-- Friday 13th Washington, HFSmas Nutcracker 2002
-- Sunday 15th Philadelphia, Y100 Feastival 2002
-- Tuesday 17th Detroit, The Night 89X Stole Christmas
Also looming on the horizon (November 26 if Virgin pull their fingers out) are re-releases of the Smashing Pumpkins' video classic 'Vieuphoria' and companion CD Earphoria - Live'. Now on DVD, Vieuphoria' features rare live footage (including some recently unearthed) as well as skits and exclusive performances of rare tracks which may or may not include 'Bugg Superstar', the best song about a pet dog ever.
