The Dismemberment Plan dismember
tappleby by Tessa Appleby January 20th, 2003
Washington D.C. based rock quartet the Dismemberment Plan have announced that they are to split up later this year.

The group will honor plans for a handful of previously announced February shows in America and will embark on a separate farewell trek in May.

Frontman Travis Morrison states:
"We've been at it for awhile. We accomplished a lot on a small scale and there was a question about how much farther it could have gone. I think this was the exact right place for us to stop given where some of us are at mentally about continuing to play music."

Although the Plan had written seven or eight songs intended for their fifth studio album, Morrison will instead utilize that material for his first solo set, on which he plans to collaborate with Death Cab For Cutie guitarist Chris Walla.

The Plan may release a last EP and will definitely be compiling an album's worth of fan-created remixes of its songs, the raw materials for which can be found on their official Web site.
