The new measures come after this year's event was subject to a number of media leaks. Record labels will not get details of shortlisted artists prior to public release as they did in 2003. The Brits compilation record will also be delayed until after nominations have been made public. Retail activity is expected to concentrate on the event itself rather than particular artists.
The awards will be held in a dinner format, after last year's theatre-style event saw one too many drunken artists on stage for the organisers' tastes. A category of Best British Rock Act has also been added, so submit your suggestions... now! Or just accept that The Darkness will win it.
