Rumours are horrible things. Did you hear the one about Charlie joining Biffy Clyro? It wasn't true. Because he's committed to the perfect pop stealings of Greenday/Blink/Jew, Busted.
Talking to Time Out this week, Charlie has put the rumour about him leaving to rest, after many fans were worried he was going to concentrate on his Bush-like rock outfit Fightstar (not to be confused with Keanu Reeves' Dogstar).
Charlie says: "I love Busted. Really. When people say I'm not happy in the band, that's bullshit." He added that his involvement with Fightstar helped him deal with the stresses of pop success: "I had a lot more frustration building up inside me when I couldn't let it out. But now I can."
The one from drama school that jumps around more than the others, Matt Willis (who according to The Sun threw a Tv out of a hotel window at the weekend), added: "He loves our band. We all do. How could anyone talk about us splitting up? We're at our... no, we're on our way to... our pinnacle. I think we're the best pop act out there. By far."
Charlie has admitted though that he tends to look miserable when on stage with Busted - "I look like a miserable bastard when I am playing, that's what my mum says too"
DiS is investigating their live show this Friday at Wembley. Report to follow.
DiScuss: Are you convinced? Have Busted redefined the meaning of punk? Have you spotted Charlie at any 'cool' gigs recently? Do you have a photo of Charlie wearing the Biffy tee he never takes off, cus we couldn't find one? What do you think of Fightstar?
