Idle Buggers! Cannae Be Arsed With Reading
jmoore by James Moore April 27th, 2001
Once their US tour supporting Placebo is over Idlewild will recommence work on their third album.

The album, which will should be out by next February, is to be produced by Stephen Street and Patti Smith's guitarist Lennie Kaye.

"I'm a huge Patti Smith fan." said Roddy to Planet Sound. "We met Lennie at a gig in New York, but it wasn't like meeting a hero as he's such a regular guy. Stephen's very unfussy and relaxed, which suits us. We don't believe in throwing sandwiches around just because we can't get a bass part right"

When asked about what the new albums sounds like Roddy replied: "I always find it tough to describe how we sound. But I'd say the new songs are similar, but with a bigger more expansive sound than ever"

"Other than the Unison show, the only British gig we're doing this year is the Glasgow Green festival, we're bigger in Scotland than anywhere else. And the venues nearby, so it's easy to get a taxi home afterwards." Buggers!
