CHARTS! Killers go Top 10. Sam And Mark do not
shadyadie by [redacted] May 30th, 2004
UK chart action again... just the Top 40 this time coz we won't be able to nick the Top 75 until Tuesday (probably) coz of the bank holiday. EDIT: Top 75 ahoy. Excellent.

*squeal!*

The Killers have hit the No. 10 spot with 'Mr Brightside'. Well done them. Yay. This is good because now I can say "I saw them at the Camden Dublin Castle and they weren't very good then actually" with an even bigger air of superiority. Thank you, record-buyers (I know you just got the vinyl because it looks pretty).

Kelis fails to knock Frankee off the top spot, reaching No. 2. And despite a heap of TV coverage and sharing the same management as Busted and McFly, nu boyband V (that's V, not Vs) only reach No. 6. They shouldn't care though, as once 'You Stood Up' is released, they'll be No. 1 for 43 weeks or something. Consider yourselves warned.

The talentless Kristian Leontiou is at 9. Sarah Connor is at 14 with 'Bounce', which contains the double-negative-tastic line "I ain't gonna take this no more". Then one below is Hope Of The States (which is nice), and then below them is those caveman cunts Jet (which is not).

Pop Idol fucknuggets Sam And Mark meet Dumpersville at 19, Supergrass stall at 23 with 'Kiss Of Life' (oh well, it's not very good anyway), and Deepest Blue are one below them. The only other new entry is InMe at 31, but the less said about them the better.

Oh, and despite the album selling loads, Keane's 'Everybody's Changing' single has somehow moved UP a place from 27 to 26. Weird.

Outwith the big Top 4-0, The Vines reach the dizzy heights of 42, and The Offspring will no doubt be disappointed being at 48. The curse of 'The' strikes again with The Stands at 49. Then, er, All About Eve creep in with 'Let Me Go Home' at 52. In other schmindie rock news, those fine singles by Ikara Colt and The Blueskins go in at 55 and 61. In album news, Avril has knocked Keane off the top with her new effort, maybe because she parades around in her pants in her new video (whatever happened to the skater chic?). Slipknot go in at 5, the late Nick Drake at 27, and your mum's favourite Elaine Page at 35 (unless your mum is rather partial to the ballads on the Slipknot album, that is). Then there's the utterly pointless Adam And The Ants 'Very Best Of' at 33 - maybe nobody's buying that because you can still get his 'Hits' album for £5 or something.

God bless the UK charts!

Ta-ta.
