new zealander andrew thomas is one of the mainstays of kompakt's ambient roster. his ability to evoke the beauty of his new zealand countryside in his music is a remarkable feat and a must hear. dramatic and engrossing, his sophomore album 'between buildings and trees' is destined to be a benchmark effort to rank alongside the likes of wolfgang voigt / gas, fennesz, vladislav delay and william basinski. 'between buildings and trees' represents a ess proc of uniting new music together with remnants of old cassette / 4 track recordings and early digital recordings.
