manchester's technical-wizards and free-form electronic duo autechre release new album 'oversteps'. it contains 14 tracks with the usual quirky titles such as 'os veix 3', 'pouy' and 'pt2ph8' and becomes their tenth album for the influential warp label. their music is a crushed up, jangling, unsettled and deeply atmospheric mix of glitchy, static sounding samples and electronic noises, sometimes over soothing synth lines and drum beats seemingly recorded over a telephone mic, sometimes blended with a brooding black wall of noise.
