'weathervanes' is the beautiful debut album from new york indie-pop outfit freelance whales. the band take their name from lead singer judah dadone's upbringing in jerusalem and a near-drowning experience in the sea of galilee, which is also the influence of many songs. sporting an array of instruments, including banjo, harmonium, synthesisers and glockenspiel, the band create neatly constructed melodies with a sound heavily influenced by ben gibbard's postal service and the indie-folk of sufjan stevens.
