Beady Eye - Different Gear, Still Speeding
There are the makings of a decent band here if the people involved cared enough. But they probably don’t, and despite a couple of green shoots, this is a dreary affair. »

beady eye (liam gallagher, gem archer, andy bell and chris sharrock) release their eagerly anticipated debut album 'different gear, still speeding' on beady eye records. the album features 13 brand new songs written by the band, and was recorded at rak studios in summer 2010 with producer steve lillywhite. the album ranges from 'four letter word' which is like spencer davis group's 'i'm a man' as played by the stooges to the big epic ballad 'kiss for a dream'. standouts are the fairytale elo esque 'the beat goes on' and single 'the roller' which would not be out of place on john lennon's 1971 album 'imagine'. it's an album of melodic beauty as liam gallagher strikes first blow as the post oasis years begin.
