The Mountain Goats - Transcendental Youth

Review by Alexander Tudor

If Transcendental Youth is the best thing The Mountain Goats have ever done, it’s only because it’s about five per cent tighter and better-played.»

john darnielle and the mountain goats return with a new album on tomlab. 'transcendental youth' is full of songs about people who madly, stupidly, blessedly won't stop surviving, no matter who gives up on them. the album includes peter hughes on bass, jon wurster on drums, and, for the first time, a full horn section. and all of this makes a very joyous noise.
